Eyjafjallajøkull

2 Sculptures build around lava and ashes from the Islandic vulcano Eyjafjallajökull.

The glass is chosen as a material, because the ashes are converted into glass by a certain temperature. Besides it symbolizes the contrast between the immense strength of nature and the fragility of the glass.

The green colour symbolizes the fertility of nature, which the lava so easily can suffocate.

The dome as a lid symbolizes our naive belief in the capability of civilisation to protect us. Against the primitive forces of nature we humans are only tiny pieces, and the economic conditions of society are vulnarable.
